Practicing in underserved areas can mean more stimulus money for Electronic Health Records

The Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services recently noted that qualified medical professionals who serve in rural areas can receive a 10 percent bonus in stimulus funding for meaningful use of electronic health records.

NCG Medical can help you find out if you qualify – some of the underserved areas might surprise you. Some are inside major metropolitan areas.

The CMS report also reinforces that doctors and eligible providers who don’t qualify for meaningful use in 2012 won't be able to receive maximum funding under the HITECH act.

Doctors new to EHRs will need to start meaningful use by October at the latest. A summer installation of certified Perfect Care EHR puts practices in a good position to qualify for $18,000 this year.
